A study of the process of gender and sexuality acceptance mother's gender and sexuality towards her child : a case study 5 mothers of transgender in Chiang Mai

Abstract
The objectives of this study were 1) to study the process of gender and sexuality acceptance after the mother recognized the child as being transgender 2) to study the accumulation of perceptions of gender and sexuality of mothers with children. The study found that Mothers with transgender children have a process of accepting their children's gender and sexuality by manipulating the feelings of the mother from “making up her mind” that it is a mother who has feelings of disappointment first and then gradually enters the process of accepting what the child is. It means that negative feelings and then through the process of managing feelings lead to positive feelings. It is a reason to support the process of reconciliation by disregarding the child's gender and sexuality but looking at the character, behavior, ability and success of the child, as well as growing up to be a good person of the mother's society, can deal with negative feelings.
