Abstract

             Western languages and cultures have played the key roles and huge parts in Thai society for a very long time since the Thai ancient eras as the westerners came to contact, do a commerce, trade with, propagate the religion to Thai people by means of exchanging culture, connecting with one and another after that receiving a big amount of western loan words which have been used for communication between westerners and Thai people, develop friendly relationships, diplomatic, laws, academic etc. To approach to a shared vision and perspective of one of the most successful western languages, Yale University, 2023. explained that not only is French crucial for international relations and diplomacy, but also is the official language of the International Olympic Committee. Besides being an official language of most international organizations, including the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, NATO and the International Court of Justice (with English), French is the third most important language for international business. The objectives of the academic article entitled “The Perspective of French Loan Words and Roles in Thais used from the Traditional to Present Era” are as follows: French Language, The History of the Derivation of French Loanwords and Their Roles in Thai Society, Thai Royal Family and French Language, Loanwords, Language Contact and Language Interference, The Examples of French Loan Words used in Thais and Conclusion. The article is related directly with the ancient Thai history which is very interesting and inspiring. The readers will have got an opportunity to learn about the derivation of the first connection of Thailand (Siam), eastern country and France, western one etc. which are presented below before presenting about loanwords and development of French loanwords and roles in Thai society.
