Promoting of Reading Comprehension Skill for English Language through KWL-Plus: A Case Study of the Third Year English Major Students, in Rajabhat Universities in Northeastern Region

The purpose of this research was to study the students’ English reading comprehension skill before and after learning through KWL-Plus and to study the students’ attitudes towards promoting of English reading comprehension skill through KWL-Plus. The samples of this study were 23 third-year English major students by selecting by purposive sampling who enrolled short story course in the second semester of the academic year 2019. The research instruments were the 5 KWL-Plus lesson plans, pre-test and post-test and questionnaire for selecting students’ attitudes towards promoting of reading comprehension skill for English language through KWL-Plus technique. The data were statistically analyzed by using means, standard deviation and a paired sample t-test.
The results of the study were found that a significant difference was seen between the mean scores of the pre-test and post-test of English reading comprehension skill at a significant level of.05 and the students expressed positive opinions towards promoting of English reading comprehension skill through KWL-Plus technique overall at “agree” level ( = 4.20 and S.D. = 0.51).
