Translation is both a science and an art that is very important in the present. Translation is a communication tool that is useful for different languages people around the world to exchange knowledge and understand of writing and speaking. Translators should learn and develop those knowledge so that the translation results are quality. This article presents the translation about the meaning, importance, type of translation, process and steps of translation, factors affecting translation, history of translation from English into Thai and Thai into English, theories of compound nouns and translation strategies of compound nouns to apply translation strategies in the real translation situation.
