AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF CONCETUAL METAPHORS IN MILINDAPANHA UNDER THE WAY OF COGNITIVE SEMANTICS

Abstract

The Purposes this thesis were to analytical study of the metaphors. In the book of Milindapanha problems on the way of cognitive semantics. To study the conceptual metaphors that appear in the book of Milindapanha problems and providing a means by Metaphor Dictionary B.E. 2554 by collecting data from Milindapanha translation problems Mahamakutrajawittayalai College year B.E. 2536 in celebration of the 80 th Anniversary of Supreme Patriarch.

               Findings of the study were as follows

1. The forms of language in the book of Milindapanha problem can be divided with the meaning of the metaphor into seven categories: 1) Human metaphors 2) Plants metaphor 3) Animal metaphors 4) Objects metaphor 5) Buildings metaphor 6) Symptoms metaphor 7) Nature metaphor.
2. The conceptual metaphors appearing in the book of Milindapanha problems led to the transferring conceptual metaphor and a giving it meaning according to the dictionary royal institute B.E. 2554.
