A STUDY OF ENGLISH FINAL CONSONANT PRONUNCIATION SKILLS ACCORDING TO PHONETICS OF PRATHOMSUEKSA 6th STUDENTS IN KANTARALAK MUNICIPALITY of SI SA KET PROVINCE

Abstract

This article was a part of thesis of “A Study of English final consonant pronunciation skills according to phonetics of Prathomsueksa 6th students in Kantaralak municipality of Si Sa Ket province”. There are 3 objects; 1) to study pronunciation of English final consonant according to Phonetic rules 2) to compare the problem of pronunciation of English final consonant being distinguished as student status and school status 3) to study how to solve the problem of pronunciation of English final consonant as Phonetic rules of Prathomsueksa 6th students in Kantaralak municipality in Si Sa Ket province. This research was the mixed research method; quantitative research and qualitative research. Group sample was 84 of Prathomsueksa 6th students who are studying second semester of academic year 2016.

             The results were found as follows:  

             1) an average at 76.50 of all students did not have the problem of pronunciation and an only average at 23.76 has the problem 2) The comparison of pronunciation of Engliosh final consonant with student status found that the boy and the girl students were not different to pronounce English final consonant at the significant level of 0.05 but the comparison with school status was different at the significant level of 0.05 3) How to solve the problem should choose the professional teacher on pronunciation and train student to listen to native speaker via VDO. It will help to develop pronunciation.
