Historical Movement from The East-Mebon Inscription

Abstract

This paper aims to analyse the reflection of the history of King Rajendravarman II by studying contents of the East-Mebon inscription which recorded the history during reign of King Rajendravarman II. The East-Mebon inscription presents about the political history, religions and beliefs, as well as cultural traditions. With regard to politics, the East-Mebon inscription recorded the history and genealogy of King Rajendravarman II to confirm the right to be king, and it also includes the history of expansion and the administration of the kingdom. In regard to the aspects of the religion and belief, especially Shaivism cult of Brahmanism, it is the major cult in this era. In addition, there is the concept of the belief in Trimurti, and Shakti, the Sri or Lakshmi and the philosophy of Hinduism and Buddhism. Regarding the traditions and culture in the East-Mebon Inscription, it is mainly concerned with the religious tradition, as well as the culture of using the mirror in the royal court
