Guidelines For Academic Services Writing to The Community

Abstract

          The objective of this academic article titled “Guidelines for writing academic services to the community” With the objective of creating knowledge and understanding of practices in writing community service work, academic service to the community is considered one of the five main missions of faculty members, which include teaching, producing graduates, conducting research, preserving arts and culture, and providing academic services to the community. Thus, community academic service is linked with the management of teaching and research, which faculty members in schools can integrate with various agencies, both public and private sectors, as well as communities, to be ready to offer advice, solve community quality of life problems, and develop novice entrepreneurs into professional business operators.

The academic services to the community provided by faculty members in higher education institutions can be either free or for-profit, depending on the project and responsible agency. However, the academic service work that is carried out can be submitted as part of the academic portfolio for career advancement. For these reasons, it is necessary for faculty members in schools to be aware of the guidelines for conducting community academic service work, which is found to be. There were ten components of writing community academic service projects, namely: 1) The mission of personnel and faculty is clearly defined to include academic services. 2) Surveying community problems and needs, 3) Meetings to explain survey results and funding applications for academic service projects, 4) Submission of academic service project proposals, 5) Building a network of cooperation in academic services between higher education institutions, government organizations, private sector, and communities, 6) Creating academic service plan 7) Implementing academic service plans for community development through training/knowledge transfer/job creation,  8) Monitoring project progress and compiling reports, 9) There is an evaluation of the results of academic services and the impacts received from academic services 10) Preparing evaluation reports and presenting them to the committee of the agency and 11) Using the evaluation results for improvement and dissemination.
