A comparative study of treatment outcomes for patients with type 2 diabetes between the union team at the subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and doctors at Sena Hospital, Sena District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Abstract
Background : Prevalence of diabetes mellitus tends to increase every year. The caring for people with diabetes subdistrict health promotion hospitals are important for reducing patient overcrowding in the hospital. Consequently, this study aimed to compare the treatment outcomes of diabetes patients (i.e., HbA1C , fasting blood sugar (FBS), triglyceride, LDL-C levels, and acute complications) between receiving treatment from multidisciplinary team at the subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and patients receiving treatment from physicians at Hospital.
Methods : This retrospective cohort study included type 2 diabetes patients who received treatment at subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and hospital .HbA1C, FBS, triglyceride, LDL-C levels and percentage of acute complications between patients receiving treatment at subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and Sena hospital were compared using independent T-test and linear regression analysis.
Results : The results indicated that HbA1C, FBS, triglyceride, LDL-C, and risk of acute complications were not significantly different between patients receiving treatment at subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and Sena hospital with mean differences of 0.00% (95%CI: -0.17, 0.17), -2.87 mg/dl (95%CI: -8.95, 3.21), 0.23 mg/dl (95%CI: -12.72, 13.18), and -5.34 mg/dl (-10.76, 0.07), respectively.
Conclusion : Treatment outcomes were not significantly different between patient receiving treatments at the subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and patients receiving treatment at Sena Hospital. Therefore, the subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital may be an alternative solution for reducing a congestion of the type 2 diabetes patients in hospital and increasing the convenience of traveling to receive the treatment.
