The Community of Evidence-Based Practice in Family Practice: Application of Social Constructivism Educational Theory

Abstract
Currently, teaching evidence-based medicine is challenging in medical practice. Physicians tend to work individually and less interact with each other; thus, there is limited space for learning and sharing their experience in a welcome environment. Creating a pleasant atmosphere and resources for education is essential. Cultivating a community of evidence-based practice based on the social constructivism educational theory and a framework of a community of practice is a pilot idea for building both learning resources and human resources. The initial point is discovering a current group of physicians who interested in evidence-based medicine and cultivating them to be a community of practice, which is a learning resource for medical students, residents, and other professions. Since people who participated in the community of practice have planned, and designed in common motivating topics, this features will reduce the obstacles of applying evidence-based medicine into practice and it will allow for the innovation in medical education take place in family practice.
