Expectations and Perceptions of Village Health Volunteers Regarding Primary Care Cluster in Phitsanulok Province

Abstract

Primary Care Team (PCT)  consists of Multidisciplinary health care team, Village Health Volunteers (VHVs), community and also public sectors. VHVs are key person who play a crucial role in community health connection. So, expectation and perception of VHVs to multifaceted aspects of Primary Care Cluster (PCC) is very important to guide the direction of our community health plan in responding to prople’s needs and to meaningful services. This qualitative research aimed to study the expectation and perception of VHVs using focus group discussion. 12 VHVs were assigned to each group by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed by using content analysis and data triangulation. The results of the perception of VHVs toward PCT show that they feel like the same family, go hand in hand like teammate and they receive Potential Development . Primary Care Cluster can work both reception service and proactive service that respon prople’s needs but Village Health Volunteers expect Primary Care Cluster proceed solving not receiving public support problem about eliminate mosquito breeding source. Supportive about chronic disease screening equipment and increase proactive service include general medical examination, pap smear screening and chronic disease screening for improve people access to Primary Care Cluster service.
