About the Journal

Since the establishment of the Family Medicine specialty training in 1999, significant progress has occurred in Family Practice as well as the development of a Primary Health Care system in Thailand. The Family Medicine knowledge has expanded and been taught not only among physicians but other professionals including dentists, pharmacists, nurses, and public health professionals working in Primary Care. Family Medicine is a unique discipline which evolved according to the practice in different contexts.

An academic journal is an important platform for the progress of scientific knowledge and research as well as being a medium for communication between networks of family physicians and multidisciplinary teams working in Primary Care. It raises the value and presents the identity of Primary Care practice and Family Medicine.

The Royal College of Family Physicians of Thailand and the General Practitioners/Family Physician Association of Thailand recognize the need to strengthen the scientific knowledge in Family Medicine as well as harmonizing the work between various organizations contributing to Primary Care development. Therefore, the two organizations decided to work in partnership through the Community Based Health Research and Development Foundation which initiated the Journal of Primary Care and Family Medicine.

The Journal of Primary Care and Family Medicine is an official journal of the Royal College of Family Physicians of Thailand, the General Practitioners/Family Physicians Association of Thailand, the Community Based Health Research and Development Foundation, and the Society of Family Physicians. The journal aims to deliver sound scientific knowledge and enable communication of Family Practice to improve service delivery and patient outcomes in clinical practice.
