Abstract

         The Research on Effects from disputes in the South China Sea on Thailand has objectives to: 1) To study the state of disputes in the South China Sea. 2) To study the impact of Thailand on disputes in the South China Sea and 3) To study solutions to problems arising from the impact of disputes in South China on Thailand. By qualitative research by collecting interviews with 17 people, including 4 academics, 3 from the Department of International Trade, 4 politicians, 4 navy officers, and 2 diplomats. The results of The Research found that

            1) Conditions of disputes in the South China Sea regarding claims of rights and sovereignty over various areas in the South China Sea, 3 issues are: Issue 1: Claims of rights and sovereignty over various areas in the South China Sea, China and Taiwan claim based on the 9-dash line. It does not include historical evidence or unclear laws. and claims and sovereignty over various areas in the South China Sea, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam, according to the 1982 Maritime Law and the determination of the Exclusive Economic Zone. Issue 2: National interests and natural resources in the South China Sea. It was found that claims and sovereignty over areas in the South China Sea Foreign policy affecting disputes in the South China Sea of countries involved in that area is very important. Issue 3: Strategy and shipping routes. It was found that the South China Sea is an important strategic point for setting up military bases and moving strategic forces of great powers. Only the United States and the South China Sea are the most important strategic routes linking the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean in this shortest shipping or maritime route.

            2) Thailand's impact on 2 issues of disputes in the South China Sea. It was found that issue 1 was economic. It was found that trade and international maritime trade routes Bilateral and multilateral trade agreements are mechanisms used in negotiations. and the cooperation framework under ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation (ATP) and the ASEAN Transport Conference. Issue 2: Diplomacy, conflict management by peaceful means and multilateral negotiations at the ASEAN level. Military, expanding security cooperation with the armed forces and security agencies of neighboring countries.

            3) The solution to the problem arising from the impact of the dispute in the South China Sea on Thailand was found to be to use the negotiation and conclusion of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea and to act in accordance with the documents in the Declaration on Conduct of the Parties. in the South China Sea and accepts the United Nations Charter of the Principles of the Law of the Sea 1982 and the TAC Treaty that all disputing countries.
