Prevention and Suppression of Illegal Immigration of Burmese Migrant Workers in Kanchanaburi Border Areas Under the Epidemic Situation of Coronavirus Disease 2019
Abstract
Due to the border of Kanchanaburi province has smuggled into the city of Burmese people all the time and currently the world has faced with the COVID-19, which has caused this research to be conducted. Moreover, The objective of this paper is to study the problem condition and to present guidelines for the prevention and suppression of smuggling of Burmese migrant workers in the border areas of Kanchanaburi Province under the epidemic situation of the Coronavirus 2019. This paper has used a qualitative research model and interview with 18 officers at Kanchanaburi Immigration. In addition, the result of this paper has found that the smuggling suppression agency in Kanchanaburi still lacks personnel and budget to operate, including pushing foreigners back to Burma. Furthermore, the problems of the COVID-19 outbreak make the operations more difficult. Therefore, the guideline for preventing and suppressing the smuggling of Burmese migrant workers in the border areas of Kanchanaburi under Coronavirus epidemic situation 2019 is to increase the number of employees and sufficient budget for work and to disseminate knowledge to the public, especially entrepreneurs about the correct employment of foreigners. Moreover, for the section of the law, it should be strictly enforced against corrupt officials seeking benefits. For the process of investigations, arrests and prosecutions, these should be carried out to isolate those at risk of the COVID-19 before pushing them further out of the country. Lastly, the recommendation for this paper is the government should be allocated personnel to suit their job duties.
