Training Course on Pre-service Community Development Technical Officer Follow-up, Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to examine 1) the level of attitudes towards the knowledge and skill utilization on the performance; 2) the results of the knowledge and skill utilization on the performance of participants affecting themselves and the organization; and 3) problems/obstacles and to propose guidelines for developing pre-service community development technical officer curriculum, Community Development Department, the Ministry of Interior. The questionnaires were conducted for collection of the quantitative data. The sample of 227 cases were drawn from community development officers, practitioner level starting working in 2017-2018 and trained a pre-service community development technical officer curriculum. In addition, the qualitative data was collected via focus group discussion. A sample was selected 15 cases dawn from representative of training participant and supervisor using purposive sampling method. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics: frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis for qualitative data. The results of this research indicated that a sample of community development officers, practitioner level attending the training course had the opinions towards applying the knowledge and skill on the overall performance of the curriculum and classifying academic topic at high level. The results of the knowledge and skill utilization on the performance found that community development officers, practitioner level could apply the knowledge and skill on the performance to create new innovations for community development project at high level. In addition, the main problems and obstacles were that the content in some subject was inconsistent with current conditions and did not match the actual conditions as a result. The guideline for developing pre-service training community development worker curriculum was that Community Development Department should research for collecting information from all involved sectors by institutional research to develop and improve the curriculum because participant curriculum development made curriculum complete.
