Democratic Citizenship of Nakhon Phanom University Employees in the 21st century
Abstract
The purposes of this study were to 1) study the democratic citizenship of Nakhon Phanom University employees, and 2) compare the democratic citizenship of Nakhon Phanom University employees in the 21st century categorizing by personal factors. The participants were 185 Nakhon Phanom University employees at Narachakwai campus, Muang district, Nakhon Phanom province. The sample was selected by using Yamane statistics with a 95% confidence level and 5% discrepancy level. The samplings included probability sampling and stratified sampling used to categorize the participants by their departments. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistics used in the analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. T-test was used with two variables, and F-test was applied with more than two variables. The statistical significance level of 0.05 was applied in this research, using multiple comparison tests with the least-significant difference (LSD) when the differences occurred.
The results showed that: 1) overall of the democratic citizenship of Nakhon Phanom University employees in the 21st century was at a high level ( =4.47). The analysis of each aspect found that obeying the rules was the only aspect at the highest level ( =4.51). The other 4 aspects were at a high level presenting by order: respect for equality ( =4.50), social responsibility, respect for human dignity ( =4.45), and self-responsibility and others ( = 4.05), 2) the comparison of the democratic citizenship of Nakhon Phanom University employees in the 21st century classified by gender, department, age, income, education level, and position revealed that the results of employees with departments and incomes were statistically significant at the 0.05 level. In contrast, the findings of the employees with different genders, ages, education levels, and positions, their democratic citizenship were not statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
