Abstract

          The qualitative research aimed to investigate folk wisdom of biological resource of local herbal plants and the guideline to conserve the folk wisdom wage of using local herbal plants in along the ecological environment of Phrom River, Chaiyaphum Province. The sample group that gave information was folk philosopher in the using of herbal plants. The data used were from documents, observation, interview guide and focus group discussion that had experience and expertise in the uses of herbs.


          This research results showed that the most common herbs are ginger family (ZINGIBERACEAE). The result from in-depth interviews and focus group with folk philosophers was the wisdom of using local herbal plants in the form of using herbs, smear or fresh paint, decoction, ground mixed with water and herbal compress ball.


Local herb conservation guidelines; there should be sustainable management of biodiversity through the inheritance of local wisdom in the use of herbs. Create a learning resource; prepare to convert herbal plant, collect local rare and endangered herbal plant by used in daily life. Build a herb garden in a temple or in a sub-district health promotion hospital. Promote a learning resource model for the community that is suitable for the quality of life development.
