Policy Proposals to Promote the Effectiveness of Sangha Affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office

Abstract

         The purposes of this study included the following: 1) to investigate the level of the effectiveness of the promotion of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office, 2) to compare opinions about the effectiveness of the promotion of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office on the basis of personal traits, 3) to examine and provide policy proposals to promote the effectiveness of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office. The samples consisted of 284 Sangha administrators in Sakon Nakhon Sangha Region. The instrument employed for data collection was a questionnaire. Statistics adopted for data analysis incorporated frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t – test, F – test, and One – way ANOVA.

The study showed these results:

1. The effectiveness of the promotion of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office, as a whole, was at the high level in every aspect ( = 4.41). Contemplating each aspect, it was found that the temples’ utilities were promoted at the highest level ( = 4.48). The religious studies were promoted at the second highest level ( = 4.47). The administration and ruling of the Sangha were promoted at the third highest level ( = 4.40). The public assistance/works was/were promoted at the fourth highest level ( = 4.39). The dissemination and proselytizing of Buddhism were promoted at the fifth highest level ( = 4.33). The management of the educational welfare/support was promoted at the lowest level ( = 4.32).


2. Comparing the opinions of the Sangha administrators on the effectiveness of the promotion of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office, it was found that the Sangha administrators with different ordination years, positions, sects, general educational backgrounds, Bali language educational backgrounds, experiences, and Sangha administration terms significantly had different opinions on the effectiveness of the promotion of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office at 0.05


3. About the policy proposals, four aspects had been suggested for the effectiveness of the promotion of Sangha affairs of Sakon Nakhon Buddhism Office: the administration/ruling; educational welfare/support; Buddhism dissemination/proselytizing; and the public assistance/works.
