Thai Local Government in the Transformation Period
Abstract
The local government was a feature of the power relations of resource allocation to localities which generally it will be the nature of local public services under the transfer of central government power to the people’s decisions whose real goal was to encourage people to be able governing themselves. The changing of politics and local government set forth in Chapter 14 of the Kingdom of Thailand Constitution 2017 caused the local government to be under the supervision of central and provincial more, therefore, the author was interested in studying and this article aimed to present the Thai local government in the Transformation Period which studying the related academic documents and presents as description. The study results found that; the Thai Local Government in the Transformation Period consist of; to reduce the controlling and supervising of central government, to establish the citizenship to enhance citizens’ participation in local government organizations, the Local government must be truly independent under the law, to reduce the bureaucracy state and increasing people’s power, and to reform of local administration paradigm.
