The Security-Approach for Enhancing Agriculturalist Surviving in Industrial Area of Thailand
Abstract
The objectives of this research are to study the security level of agriculturalists, to study the factors that influence the stability of the livelihood of agriculturalists, and to propose guidelines for creating a stable life suitable for agriculturalists in the industry area of Thailand. The sample groups is: 1) Agriculturalists which living in 3 provinces (Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao), consisting of 384 samples; and 2) Providers for the in-depth interviews including agricultural district officers, academics for quality of life for agriculturalists, provincial commerce, director of trade and economic development groups, manager of the bank manager for agriculture and cooperatives, and representatives of agriculturalists, totaling 10 persons. The research instruments were questionnaires, interview forms and focus group. The reliability coefficients, alpha, 0.942. The statistics used are frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation and the multiple linear regression analysis (MRA), and the statistical significance level is set at 0.05. The qualitative data used were analyzed via contents based on the study points.
The results of the research are as follows: 1) The agriculturalists who answer most of the questionnaires have a moderate level of stability in their livelihoods in the industry area of Thailand. 2) External environment factors including communities and societies, natural resources and the environment, and government policies that influence the security of livelihoods of the agriculturalists in the industry area of Thailand 3. The way for enhancing agriculturalist surviving, the government must bring the agriculturalists to be involved in the implementation of the 20-years agricultural strategy, find markets for agricultural products, emphasizing the continuation of agricultural development policies, and government agencies must cooperate with educational institutions, financial institutions.
