Guidelines for Promoting Participation in Student Activities in Surin Rajabhat University
Abstract
This research has 3 objectives which are 1) to compare students' opinions on participation in student activities of Surindra Rajabhat University and; 2) to propose ways 3) to promote participation in student activities at Surindra Rajabhat University. This was integrated by quantitative and qualitative research. 378 students of first year to fifth year, Surindra Rajabhat University, were collected by the quantitative research, while in-depth interview was used through qualitative research by 53 cases.
The results of this research were revealed as follows:
- The level of participation in the student activities of Surindra Rajabhat University in general were at a high level ( = 3.94) When considered in each aspect, it was found that the level of participation of student activities - relation to activities promoting arts and culture aspect was at the highest level ( = 3.99) The average was at a high level. It was followed by democratic promotion activities ( = 3.96) the average was a high level; service activities and environmental protection aspect was a high level ( = 3.96) Academic activities aspect was at the high level ( = 3.92) and sports activities and health promotion aspect were at a high level respectively ( = 3.86)
- The students' opinions on participation in student activities, Surindra Rajabhat University. It was found that students who had gender and different year levels, overall there was the level of participation in the student activities was not different. Then the hypothesis was rejected. While students with different faculties, different levels of participation in student activities of Surindra Rajabhat University overall was different with statistical significance at the level of 0.05. The hypothesis, therefore, was accepted.
3. Guidelines for promoting participation in student activities in Surindra Rajabhat University as follows. There is a system to record activity attendance. According to the student activity calendar, students have to participate in activities. At least 80 percent throughout the academic year, students choose to register for activities which they are interested in. The time for organizing the activities is not duplicated with the teaching and learning time. There are various public relations channels, technology, innovation, and modern and sustainable facilities to be used in organizing activities to be more appropriate and interesting. There are departments and personnel responsible for providing advice and knowledge about health. There are health check-up services for faculty members and students. Every year, there are modern buildings, places and equipment sufficient to meet the needs of students with international standards. There are a variety of sports and recreation activities. There is a climate, architecture, and environment both on and off campus that are ready. It is introduced the King’s Philosophy which focuses on understanding, accessing and developing, integrating cooperation with all sectors to organize activities. Students who participate in activities are voluntarily. They have freedom to choose to participate in activities and using free time to benefit. There is a wide vision, preferring democracy, possessing skills; encouraging to think and do; assertiveness; working as a team, being able to work together with others very well and accepting the opinions of others rationally and giving equal importance to all. They are a center of conservation, promotion, research and application of arts and culture. Students could share ideas, design and present good art and culture. They are the inheritor continuing the traditional arts and culture. Local Arts and culture are loved, cherished and proud by students. They could be able to use the knowledge to disseminate and create work that would be beneficial to oneself and society both at the local and international level.
