The Development of ASEAN Culture Curriculum for Phetchabun Rajabhat University Students

Abstract

         The current research study aimed to 1) examine basic information on ASEAN culture of Phetchabun Rajabhat University students, 2) to create and prove the quality of the ASEAN Culture Curriculum, 3) to try out the ASEAN culture curriculum, and 4) to evaluate the satisfaction of Phetchabun Rajabhat University students using the ASEAN Culture Curriculum. There are step classified into 4 stages: Stage 1 studying basic information on ASEAN culture of Phetchabun Rajabhat University students. The population is 4,520 students of Phetchabun Rajabhat University; the samples by random sampling are 350. Stage 2 Creating and proving the quality of the ASEAN Culture Curriculum by 5 experts in order to evaluate its suitability and consistency. Stage 3 trying out the ASEAN Culture Curriculum for Phetchabun Rajabhat University students; the sample at this stage consists of 200 students. Stage 4 evaluating the satisfaction of Phetchabun Rajabhat University students. The tools used to collect data in Stage 1 is a paper questionnaire data analysis by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation; Stage 2 is a form of suitability and consistency data analysis by mean standard deviation and Index of consistency; Stage 3 a test on ASEAN culture data analysis by mean, standard deviation, and t-test; Stage 4 a student satisfaction questionnaire toward ASEAN Culture Curriculum data analysis by mean, and standard deviation.


         The research findings showed: 1) the students’ learning context in overall leveled high (x̄)= 3.66, S.D= 0.67).  2) The results of creating and proving the quality of ASEAN Culture Curriculum showed there were 8 components appeared in the curriculum which were 1) curriculum background, 2) curriculum principles, 3) curriculum objectives, 4) curriculum structure, 5) curriculum contents, 6) curriculum duration, 7) media and devices, and 8) evaluation and assessment; the curriculum suitability leveled high  (x̄) = 4.33, S.D= 0.68) and its consistency was between 0.50-0.80. 3) The results of trying out ASEAN Culture Curriculum showed the comparative study on the understanding of ASEAN Culture after using the ASEAN Culture Curriculum was higher than before using the curriculum, statistically significant at the .05 level. 4) The results of the student satisfaction showed the overall level of the satisfaction was level high  (x̄) = 4.27, S.D =. 0.67)
