Reception of Japanese literature among Thai intellects in The Social Science Review

Abstract
The Social Science Review is important academic journal that has influenced the thoughts of Thai intellectuals since the 1970s. In particular, the Yellow Peril edition was prepared to create a body of knowledge about Japan at that time and increase opportunities for exposure of Japanese literature at to Thai readership. This article aimed to study The Social Sciences Review’s perception of Japanese literary works as conveyed to readers and how to use Japanese literature to communicate with readers. In reviewing Japanese literature in Journal of Social Sciences Review, seven Japanese literary works were identified. The way these items of literature were presented not only reflected the use of Japanese literature to stress the Journal’s image and ideology, but also built the perception and pioneered Japanese proletarian literature for Thai readers at that time.
