About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Journal of Language and Culture (JLC) aims to publish high-quality academic works on language and culture that contribute to national development, international collaboration, and the conservation, development, and revitalization of language and culture. We welcome manuscripts in linguistics, cultural studies, anthropology, community development, and language for communication, translation, and teaching. We particularly encourage theoretically focused analyses, applied research, and synthesized research papers conducted in the Asian region. JLC publishes twice annually, in June and December.
Peer Review Process
We accept only original manuscripts that have not been and will not be submitted for publication elsewhere. Each manuscript undergoes rigorous peer review by three academic experts in the relevant field. All articles require acceptance from all three referees for publication.
Open Access Policy
JLC provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Journal History
Founded in 1981 by the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia at Mahidol University, JLC is a premier bi-annual journal in the Humanities and Social Sciences and has been recognized as a Tier 1 journal in the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI)! This prestigious ranking places JLC among the highly qualified academic journals in Thailand, showcasing the exceptional quality and impact of our research publications.
