Guidelines for Management to Promote Latin Dance in City High School Group in Guizhou Province, China

Abstract

Background and Aims: Latin dance has become an important element of high school education in China, offering physical, cultural, and psychosocial benefits. However, in Guizhou Province, limitations such as uneven resource allocation, insufficient qualified teachers, and a lack of systematic curricula hinder its sustainable development. This study aimed to develop management guidelines for promoting Latin dance in urban high schools in Guizhou Province.

Methodology: A mixed-method approach was applied with a sample of 196 participants, including administrators, teachers, and students, selected from a population of 788. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews with experts, and a focus group discussion to validate draft guidelines. Validity was confirmed using the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC), and findings were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis.

Results: The study identified key challenges, including inadequate teacher training, limited facilities, and student disengagement. Draft guidelines were developed based on the functions of planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling (POIC). Expert validation confirmed their suitability, highlighting the need for professional development and curriculum standardization.

Conclusion: The finalized guidelines provide a practical framework for integrating Latin dance into school education, emphasizing strategic planning, collaborative organization, systematic implementation, and continuous evaluation. These findings contribute to sustainable cultural and educational development and may serve as a model for similar initiatives in other regions.
