Development of a Household Accounting Program for Managing Income and Expenses and Displaying Results in Graphical Form

Abstract

Background and Aims: The creation of a household accounting program is essential for giving people the skills they need to properly manage their money by giving them the means to precisely track, analyze, and visualize their income and expenses. For greater economic stability, it encourages financial literacy and well-informed decision-making. This research aims to: 1) develop a household accounting program capable of easily recording and managing personal income and expense data, and 2) study and analyze user satisfaction with the developed program.

Methodology: The program was tested with a sample group of 50 users selected through purposive sampling, as the research specifically targets individuals interested in and directly related to personal financial management. A questionnaire was used to evaluate satisfaction across various aspects of the system.

Results: The research findings revealed that the developed household accounting program functioned fully as designed. Users were able to easily record income and expense data, and the program provided visual representations in the form of bar and line graphs to assist in analyzing and comparing income and expenses over different periods. Calculations of total income, expenses, and remaining balances were accurate and quick. From the satisfaction evaluation of 50 users, it was found that users were satisfied at a level of "high" to "very high," particularly in the speed of data recording (mean 4.60, SD 0.58) and the convenience of retrieving past data (mean 4.55, SD 0.60). Additionally, the ease of use of the user interface (mean 4.50, SD 0.65) and the graphical representation of data (mean 4.40, SD 0.68) also received high satisfaction scores.

Conclusion: With its precise computations and user-friendly features like graphical data representation, the household accounting program successfully fulfilled design requirements. High user satisfaction demonstrates its effectiveness, usability, and usefulness in financial record management.
