The Role of The District Municipality in Creating Cooperation with The Network To Develop Tourism Management in The Ban Duea Community, Nong Khai Province

Abstract

Background and Aims: The Ban Duea Subdistrict Municipality in Nong Khai Province has actively promoted tourism management in the Ban Duea community through collaboration among the government, private sector, and civil society. This partnership follows the principles of New Public Governance, with each party playing a role in addressing issues and delivering public services that meet the needs of local people sustainably. This research aims to examine the role of the subdistrict municipality in fostering partnerships with networks to enhance tourism management within the Ban Duea community, Nong Khai Province.

Methodology: This research utilized a qualitative research approach, selecting eight key informants through purposive sampling. The participants included three officials from the Ban Duea Subdistrict Municipality and five representatives from the Ban Duea Tourism Community. Data collection was conducted through focus group discussions, using semi-structured interview protocols to gain in-depth insights.

Results: Findings reveal that the Ban Duea Subdistrict Municipality leverages its resources and cultural capital in an integrated approach to administration. By creating opportunities for collaboration with network partners across sectors, the municipality plays a central role in establishing both formal and informal cooperative efforts. These efforts involve hosting mobile meetings, developing community plans, and incorporating community issues and needs into project planning, budget allocation, and coordination with provincial government agencies. This approach supports the sustainable development of tourism in the Ban Duea community.

Conclusion: The Municipality has successfully harnessed local and cultural resources through formal and informal partnerships, promoting sustainable, community-focused tourism development.
