The Participatory Border Prevention and Peacekeeping Strategies in the Area of Vientiane Lao People’s Democratic Republic

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study level of the participation and formulate the border prevention and peacekeeping strategies in the area of Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic. This research is mixed methods research which divided into 2 phases. Phase 1: quantitative research, the data was collected from the samples amount to 328 people using the questionnaire as a research tool. Phase 2: qualitative research, the data was collected from the target group consisted of 30 the specialists who have the knowledge and experiences in the border prevention and peacekeeping using the strategy’s suitability and feasibility form as a research tool. The data was analyzed using the package software computer programs. The statistics used in this research were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results showed that: 1) the overall level of the participation in prevention and peacekeeping along the border was at a moderate level in every aspect. The ranking of the average from highest to lowest was as follows: 1.1) the participation in finding problems and causes of the insurgency along the border 1.2) the participation in the operation of the prevention and peacekeeping along the border plan, 1.3) the participation in the solution planning to prevent and peacekeeping along the border, and 1.4) the participation in monitoring and evaluating the prevention and peacekeeping along the border. 2) The results of the strategic formulation of the participatory prevention and peacekeeping along the border in the area of Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic found that there were 1 vision 4 missions, 4 goals, 4 indicators, and 4 strategies, the evaluation of the suitability and feasibility of the strategy level overall was at a high level which meant passed the assessment.
