Development of an Online Prototype for Social Sciences Subject according to ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and Education Criteria for Performance Excellence (EdPEx) or Thailand Quality Award (TQA) Criteria

Abstract
This study aimed to study the problems and desires of the university students in online learningand the online subject format, the designing and developing a prototype of online subject entitled online social for improving life and digital economy according to the ASEAN Higher Education Network Quality Standards (AUN-QA) and the criteria for Education for Performance Excellence (EdPEx) or the Thailand Quality Award (TOA) criteria. The study used mixed methods research. There were two groups of the population. The first group were 5,846 students who enrolled in general education courses at the Facultyof Social Sciences and Humanities at Mahidol University during the two academic-years that studied full online learning which there were 415 students was selected as a sample group using a stratified sampling and the application of proportion and a questionnaire was used as a research instrument. The second group of the population consisted of 45 related experts which divided into 2 groups using purposive sampling, which a focus group was used with 17 people and a prototype online subjects assessment form
was used with 28 people. Descriptive statistics were applied to analyze the data from the questionnaire and the assessment form, and the content analysis was used to analyze the information from the focus group. The results found that 1) the highest level of the students’ problems and desires for online learning and online course format was the problem of Internet latency and the students wanted the fun and friendly classes, 2) 4 important elements were found in the course design of online subject
entitled online social for improving life and digital economy according to quality standards including the standard of the graduate’s learning outcomes, curriculum structure and content, instructional strategies, and learning assessments. 3) there were some suggestions found from the developing prototype of online course entitled online social for improving life and digital economy in accordance with the 3 quality standards in order to develop a prototype online course including adjusting goals and objectives,
content ratio, self-study hour ratio, improving course-level expected learning outcomes, lesson plans, and assessment of teaching and leaning activities according to the leaning resources. The benefits of this research were the obtaining of the prototype of online learning that can be used to teach, and bringing the evaluation results of from the students and stakeholders to develop teaching materials to make this subject to be an online instruction as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
