The Development of Piano Teaching and Learning Management Model of Piano for the First Year Undergraduate Students of Universities in the Northeast of Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to investigate conditions and problems of Piano teaching management for the first-year undergraduate students of the universities in the Northeast 2) to develop a Piano teaching model for the students and 3) to develop the students’ academic skills related to Piano. The population and Sample group were 12 piano teachers and 10 piano students. Tools of collecting data comprised of interviewed forms, questionnaires and piano teaching model. The results found that: 1) The conditions and problems of Piano teaching management, the problems found in the study were that the students had different basic skill levels, readiness for learning and varying development of Piano skills. Thus lesson plans for each semester had to be flexible to suit the different basic skill levels of the students. The students from some of the universities lacked practical basics. 2) The development of Piano teaching and learning management model found that the principle of teaching model was the most important ( = 4.75 , S.D. = 0.12), and followed by teaching guide book  ( = 4.71 , S.D. = 0.14), problems and essential of teaching model ( = 4.60 , S.D. = 0.15)  structure of teaching model ( = 4.58 , S.D. = 0.11), teaching materials and learning center  ( = 4.56 , S.D. = 0.14), and the objectives of teaching model  ( = 4.55 , S.D. = 0.26). and 3) The skilled development of Piano teaching and learning management, before and after learning by using Piano teaching and learning management model for the first-year undergraduate students of universities in the northeast of Thailand. After learning this model was significantly higher than before learning the treatment at .05 levels.
