Characteristics of Entrepreneurs Affecting the Success of the Administration of Small and Medium Enterprises: Case study of oil palm industry in Surat Thani

Abstract

This research aimed to study the characteristics of small and medium enterprises in the oil palm industry in Surat Thani province. The 160 samples used in the research were small and medium enterprises and the palm oil industry in Surat Thani. Random sampling by lottery used non-return random 32 samples and stratified sampling.  The questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data with confidence level 0.9335. The statistics used in the research were frequency, percentage, mean, multivariate analysis, and multi-step regression analysis.


The research found that most of the samples were male (56.25%), aged between 31-40 years (31.25%). Most of the graduates (56.88%) are employees (60%) with 11-15 years of experience (38.12%). Most of the establishments have existed for 16-20 years (45.00%).


The analysis of characteristics of small and medium enterprises of the oil palm industry in Surat Thani showed they all are at a high level. Rankings in descending order are business ethics, Leadership, Dare to risk, dare to decide, responsibility, commitment to success, learning and self-development, and innovation.
