The Reproduction of Nationalism through being The World Heritage in Moscow, Russia

Abstract

The Study on “The Reproduction of Nationalism through being the World Cultural Heritage in Moscow, Russia” studied World Cultural Heritage sites in Moscow, Russia; and to study the reproduction of nationalism through World Cultural Heritage sites in Moscow, including the Kremlin and Red Square, the Architectural Ensemble of the Trinity Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad, the Ensemble of the Novodevichy Convent, and the Church of the Ascension, Kolomenskoye. The study examined the historical values as well as UNESCO’s qualification. As a result, the four World Cultural Heritage Sites, according to the present study, have become part of the tools that served government, who tried to push and encourage historical values of these sites to reproduce and to construct the government power in order to establish a type of nationalism leading citizens to be proud of their own civilization from the definition of the four World Cultural Heritage Sites in Moscow which were chosen by the government. Moreover, the government’s success that it can proclaim its prestige and mightiness of the country through being a part of World Cultural Heritage reflects the Russian government’s ability to create values in itself that could combine the government and the nation by building its righteousness through these methods.
