The Development of a Role-Playing Game for Learning The Inao Story Suk Kramang KuNing

Abstract
A Role Playing Game (RPG) is a multimedia program that has many benefits such enhancing and developing learning for all people. Also, through RPGs people can learn about the continuous progress and changes in information technology. This research was designed to develop an educational RPG based on the Inao story of Suk KraMang KuNing, a classic of Thai literature. Levels of satisfaction with the game and knowledge of Thai literature gained from playing it were tested with a sample of 86 Grade 10 students from Kham Kaen Nakhon School, Khon Kaen Province. The instruments used in this research were: 1) questionnaires; 2) interviews; 3) satisfaction survey. The game was also by experts in Thai literature, RPGs and media. It was found that players found the RPG game easy to learn and understand. The game used 2D animation and unique characters and scenes. There was a training mode that players used before engaging with the playing and knowledge testing modes. The game could be played on the internet. The research found that over 80 percent of the students were satisfied with the prototype of the game. More than three-quarters of the experts who assessed the quality of the prototype RPG thought that the overall quality was good.
