An Analysis of the Bachelor’s Degree Curricula in Library and Information Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University from 1964 to 2025

Abstract
This research aims to analyze the bachelor’s degree curricula in Library and Information Science, at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University, from 1964 to 2025. The study focuses on changes of the program title, the number of curricula, and major subjects, as reflected in related documents. Data was extracted and recorded on data collection spreadsheets and analyzed using frequency and percentage. The research findings reveal that the program title has undergone five revisions, resulting in four different names, with one title being used in two different periods. There are 14 curricula. They could be grouped according to the period they were in use, which fell between two and seven years for each curriculum. The major subjects can be categorized into two main groups, according to their characteristics (compulsory, elective, practical), and their contents (fundamental, library work, computer and/or information technology, and skills). In addition, there are major subjects that contain practice hours, the majority of which are compulsory subjects on library technical work. The findings reflect the manner in which components of the instruction have changed from the past to the present. Trends and directions of curriculum development are also discussed. This data may be used for curriculum revision in the future.
