Nature Writing and Literary Imagination in the Poetry of Ge Bu, a Hani Ethnic Poet from China

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of eleven major literary works by Ge Bu, a poet from China’s Hani ethnic group. It aims to explore his unique expressions in writing about nature, using his mother tongue, and cultural and social criticism. Through detailed textual analysis and the application of socio-cultural theoretical frameworks, the study reveals how Ge Bu’s works reflect Hani culture and critically view the impacts of modernization. The findings indicate that Ge Bu’s poetry not only holds a significant position in the study of Hani culture but also offers new perspectives for modern poetic creation and cross-cultural communication. Additionally, his works, through their unique literary forms and content, display keen insights into cultural diversity and environmental issues, providing valuable academic and practical value to the fields of literature and social sciences. This research not only deepens our understanding of Ge Bu’s works but also enriches our knowledge of the role of ethnic minority literature in the context of globalization, particularly in terms of cultural preservation, social critique, and literary innovation.
