The Problem of Male Homosexual Love in the Story The Miracle of the Teddy Bear

Abstract

The objective of the study is to represent the problems of love in gay male couples and to present solutions of the problems. The problems are love triangle, a third party comes into their life, a lack of understanding and good communication with each other, the rejection of a same-sex lover from family and society, and the rules set in the family. Therefore, when those issues occur, they lead to problems in the couple’s life. The solution to deal with the problem are the acceptance of the truth, the learning of each other’s growth, detachment from problem the faced and forgiveness, healing the pain of the condition from disappointment in love, and the acceptance of gender diversity. The researcher examined the problem of love and solutions presented in the elements of this story which are: 1) the development of the story, 2) the presentation of the characters, 3) the presentation of the scenes or situations, and 4) the important concept of presenting the problems of humanity linked to various factors. Secondary concepts are to make fun of utopian gay fiction, to parody characters from literature, to make fun of traditional mores, and to parody the society. So, all the elements which have been presented vividly show the problem of love.
