Verbal Mixed Media in Thai Childhood: A Longitudinal Study of Thai 2-6 Years’ Old Child

Abstract

The Multimodal context of communication in the information age, the development of early
childhood via verbal mixed media reflects the influence of such a linguistic environment. The results of
this study show that mode and verbal aspect begin with random scribbling. Later, the scribbling was
controlled to the letters which were written in sequence. Color was used with the letters to convey
meaning.The next step was using the combination of letters to convey the meaning. Vocabulary writing
and the use of symbols are related. Otherwise, alphabetical adaptations to other symbols are adopted.
Also, in the aspect of situations, it is shown that in the early stages, childhood has play for fun. And as
childrengrow, theybegintousetheverbal-mixed mediatoconvey theiremotions, creativityandproblem
solving.
