บทคัดย่อ

      อัลควาริซมีเป็นนักคณิตศาสตร์อิสลามซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงที่สุด หนังสือทีเขาเขียนเป็น
ทียอมรับอย่างกว้างขวางในฐานะต้นกำเนิดของพีชคณิต เพราะเขาได้คิดค้นกระบวนการ

      Al-Khwarizmi is the most famous Islamic mathematician. One of his
publications is widely accepted as the origin of algebra because he created
some basic procedures and algorithms that are indispensable in today’s
elementary algebra courses. This article provides the historical background of
al-Khwarizmi’s life which related to some philosophical aspects of Islam, the
path of Greek knowledge that was transferred to the Islamic world, and the role
of Abbasid rulers. Without these factors, it is almost impossible for him to
systematically propose his algebraic ideas through geometry. But at the same
time, the thesis that he synthesized was fundamentally disparate from any idea
that came before, and undeniably more effective in solving the quadratic
equation. Apart from preserving Classical knowledge, the Islamic world also
introduced algebra to Europe, through translation into Latin. Algebra, then, was
a part of European mathematical learning and played a significant role in the
development of modern mathematics.
