เมืองนิมิตร ของ ม.ร.ว. นิมิตรมงคล นวรัตน์: ความฝันถึงโลกอันไม่ "ประเดี่๋ยวเฟ้อประเดี๋ยวแฟบ" ของนักอุดมคติ

บทคัดย่อ

      บทความนี้ศึกษางานเขียนของ ม.ร.ว. นิมิตรมงคล นวรัตน์ เรือง ความฝัน ของ
นักอุดมคติ หรือ เมืองนิมิตร ตีพิมพ์ครั้ง แรกเมือ พ.ศ. 2487 บทความศึกษาภาวะเสถียร
และไม่เสถียรที่แสดงตัวในสังคมอุดมคติในงานเขียนชิ้นนี้ การศึกษาพบว่า สังคมอุดมคติ
ใน ความฝัน ของนักอุดมคติ มีความใกล้เคียงกับงานเขียนเรือง Republic ของ Plato
และ Utopia ของ Thomas More ทั้งในด้านเนื้อหาและความพยายามปลูกสร้างภาวะ
เสถียรเหนือภาวะไม่เสถียร อย่างไรก็ตาม สังคมอุดมคติใน ความฝันของนักอุดมคติ ก็มี
ความแตกต่างอย่างชัดเจนจาก Republic ของ Plato และ Utopia ของ Thomas More
กล่าวคือ สังคมอุดมคติของ ม.ร.ว. นิมิตรมงคลวางอยู่บนลัทธิบริโภคนิยมอุตสาหกรรม

ความพยายามสร้างภาวะเสถียรเหนือภาวะไม่เสถียรผ่านวิธีคิดแบบวิทยาศาสตร์และ
เอกภาพในปรัชญาบริสุทธิ์ การศึกษายังพบด้วยว่าภาวะเสถียรดังกล่าวถูกรบกวนและ
ท้าทายด้วยภาวะไม่เสถียร โดยอธิบายผ่านแนวคิดวิพากษ์วิทยาศาสตร์และสัมบูรณ์นิยม
ในปรัชญาบริสุทธิ์ของนักคิดในกระแสหลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง ซึงสะท้อนให้เห็น
ปัญหาในการอภิปรายแนวคิดความสัมบูรณ์
      This paper studies the novel Muang Nimit (A Dream City)2 by
M.R. Nimitmogkhol Nawarat, first published in 1944. The author explores the
tension between the forces of stability and instability which play a part in the
novel’s construction of an idealistic society. The study finds that Muang Nimit can
be read intertextually with Plato’s Republic and Thomas More’s Utopia, although
the influence of industrial consumerism sets the idealistic society in Muang Nimit
apart from both Plato’s and More’s idealisms. The study reveals that the
construction of the idealistic society portrayed in Muang Nimit manifests the
struggle to establish forces of stability over and against forces of instability through
the scientific method and ontological unity/uniformity. Taking on post-war critiques
of science and ontological absolutism, it is also found that the establishment of
stability in the novel can be interrupted and contested by instability, which further
problematizes the debate on the wholeness of being.
