ปัญหาของวรรณคดีไทยศึกษา: ข้อสังเกตที่ได้จากการวิจัยกวีนิพนธ์ไทยร่วมสมัย

บทคัดย่อ

บทความนี้มุ่งเสนอข้อสังเกตเชิงวิเคราะห์เกี่ยวกับความเข้าใจผิดพลาดคลาดเคลื่อนในเรื่องวรรณคดีไทยโดยเฉพาะกวีนิพนธ์ ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เป็นผลสืบเนื่องมาจากการที่นักวิชาการวรรณคดีศึกษารับแนวคิดและทฤษฎีของตะวันตกมาเป็นกรอบทัศนะ โดยมิได้ตระหนักว่า ตนเองยังมีความเข้าใจรากเหง้าพื้นฐานตลอดจนพัฒนาการทางวรรณศิลป์ของไทยไม่ ‘แน่น’ พอ หนทางแก้มีอยู่แต่ที่ว่าจะต้องปรับมุมมองหันเข้าหาภูมิปัญญาดั้งเดิมให้ชัดแจ้ง ลึกซึ้งทั้งโครงสร้างและสาระจนสร้างทฤษฎีขึ้นได้เอง มิใช่คอยแต่รับทฤษฎีสำเร็จรูปจากภายนอกมาใช้จำกัดอิสรทัศน์อยู่ร่ำไป จนส่งผลให้นักศึกษาไทยขาดความมั่นใจในวิจารณญาณของตนเองและคุณค่าของมรดกทางปัญญาของบรรพบุรุษ

This article presents an analytical observation on misunderstandings within Thai literary studies, in particular in the study of Thai poetry. These misunderstandings have resulted from the that Thai academics have adopted western theories and concepts as a framework for their studies of Thai literature. In addition, these misunderstandings are added by a lack of a sound intellectual perception of Thai literary culture. Academics should acknowledge these past errors and seek to identify the essence and complexities of Thai literary development, avoiding the meek adoption of Western theories which is damaging to the critical and analytical minds of our students.
