บทคัดย่อ

งานวิจัยนี้แบ่งออกเป็น 4 บท บทแรกกล่าวถึงทฤษฎีเฟมินิสม์และความสัมพันธ์ของเฟมินิสม์กับนวนิยายอเมริกันสมัยใหม่ บทที่ 2 เป็นการวิเคราะห์ผลงานของนักเขียนหญิง ได้แก่ Chopin, Wharton และ Cather ในแนวเฟมินิสต์ บทที่ 3 วิเคราะห์ผลงานของนักเขียนชาย คือ Fitzgerald, Hemingway และ Faulkner ในแนวเดียวกัน และบทสุดท้ายเป็นการวิเคราะห์โดยรวมพร้อมสรุป จุดมุ่งหมายหลักของการวิจัยคือ การค้นคว้าประวัติความเป็นมา วิวัฒนาการ หลักการและปรัชญาของทฤษฎีเฟมินิสม์ และใช้ทฤษฎีนี้มาวิเคราะห์นวนิยายอเมริกันสมัยใหม่ของนักเขียนหญิงและชาย เพื่อชี้ให้เห็นว่าเฟมินิสม์เป็นทฤษฎีที่เปิดกว้าง สามารถนำไปวิเคราะห์ผลงานวรรณกรรมได้โดยไม่จำกัดยุคสมัย ประเภท เชื้อชาติ หรือเพศ

The research consists of four chapters. The first one concerns the theory of feminism and its relationship to modern American novels. The second chapter analyses the novels by three women writers: Chopin, Wharton and Cather. The third is an analysis of three men writers: Fitzgerald, Hemingway and Faulkner. The last chapter contains the concluding criticism. The purpose of this research is to investigate the history, evolution, principle and philosophy of feminism and to apply the theory to modern American novels both by women and men writers. This practice indicates that feminism is a broad theory that is applicable to all kinds of literary works no matter which period, genre, nationality of sex.
