เรื่องราวของสมเด็จพระสุริโยทัยปรากฏครั้งแรกในพระราชพงศาวดารกรุงศรีอยุธยาหลังจากนั้นมีการนำเสนอหลากรูปลักษณ์ แต่ละฉบับมีรายละเอียดที่แตกต่างกัน แต่สิ่งที่คงอยู่คือความพยายามในการสืบทอดความคิดหลักตามอุดมการณ์ของสังคม และไม่ว่าเรื่องสมเด็จพระสุริโยทัยฉบับใดสมัยใดก็ยังคงรักษาลักษณะของวิธีการสร้างตำนานวรีบุรุษวีรสตรีไว้โดยไม่เปลี่ยนแปลง

Since her first appearance in Ayutthaya chronicles, Queen Suriyothai has been portrayed in many different genres, each of which has focused on different details of her character. One thing that remains constant in these narratives, however, is an attempt to maintain the main principles of the social ideology of the time and to illustrate the creation of legends of heroes and heroines.
