ภูมิศาสตร์คำศัพท์ภาษาไทยถิ่นในจังหวัดชัยภูมิ

บทคัดย่อ

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบและการกระจายของคำศัพท์ที่ปรากฏในภาษาไทยถิ่นต่าง ๆ ที่ใช้พูดในจังหวัดชัยภูมิ และเพื่อนำข้อมูลที่ได้มาทำแผนที่ทางภาษา ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นในจังหวัดชัยภูมิแบ่งออกได้เป็น 3 บริเวณ ได้แก่ บริเวณที่ใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นอีสาน บริเวณที่ใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นโคราช และบริเวณที่ใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นกลาง โดยที่ภาษาไทยถิ่นอีสานเป็นภาษาถิ่นที่มีใช้มากที่สุด ส่วนภาษาไทยถิ่นกลางมีใช้น้อยที่สุด นอกจากนั้นยังพบว่ามีบางหมู่บ้านในบางอำเภอที่ใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นต่าง ๆ ร่วมกันอีกด้วย การที่ประชาชนในจังหวัดชัยภูมิใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นหลายภาษาในลักษณะดังกล่าวเกิดจากการอพยพถิ่นฐาน การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองการปกครองในอดีต การที่ชาวจังหวัดชัยภูมิต้องใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นกลาง ในการศึกษาและการติดต่อราชการ รวมไปถึงตำแหน่งที่ตั้งของจังหวัดชัยภูมิซึ่งอยู่กึ่งกลางระหว่างภาคกลาง ภาคอีสานตอนบน และภาคอีสานตอนล่าง

This research aims to study the lexical variation and distribution of  Thai dialects spoken in Chaiyaphum province, and to use the results as a basis for drawing a Chaiyaphum dialect map. The study shows that there are three major dialect areas: Northeasten Thai, Korat Thai and Central Thai. The Northeast Thai dialect was found to have been used most often whereas the Central Thai dialect was used the least often. Additionally, the findings also indicate that a mixture of these dialects was found spoken in the villages of several districts. If can be concluded that dialect diversity in Chaiyaphum was a result of factors such as population migrations, past political changes, the increasing importance of the Central Thai dialect in educational and governmental settings, and the fact that Chaiyaphum is situated where the Central Plains meets the Upper Northeastern and Lower Northeastern regions.
