พุทธธรรมกับทัศนะที่แตกต่างกันของพระพรหมคุณาภรณ์ (ป.อ.ปยุตฺโต) และพระเมตฺตานนฺโท

บทคัดย่อ

บทความนี้ประสงค์จะแสดงให้เห็นถึงพัฒนาการของความคิดของมนุษย์เกี่ยวกับศาสนาในการตีความพุทธธรรมของพระภิกษุ 2 รูป รูปหนึ่งตีความด้วยรูปแบบวิธีการตามที่เคยปฏิบัติ เป็นแบบประเพณีที่สืบต่อกันมาโดยใช้ข้อมูลตามลำดับคัมภีร์ ได้แก่ คัมภีร์ชันต้นและคัมภีร์ลำดับรองลงมา ส่วนพระภิกษุอีกรูปหนึ่งตีความด้วยการมีสมมติฐานว่าคัมภีร์พระไตรปิฎกนั้นยังไม่สามารถเชื่อถือได้ต้องตรวจสอบก่อน โดยใช้วิธีการแบบใหม่ตามแนวตะวันตก ไม่ใช้ข้อมูลตามลำดับคัมภีร์ ทำให้บทสรุปที่ได้มีความแตกต่างกันเป็นอย่างมาก และวิธีการตีความแบบใหม่ได้ส่งผลต่อความรู้สึกของชาวพุทธเป็นอย่างมากด้วย ผู้เขียนจึงจะนำเสนอแนวคิด วิธีการ ในการตีความของพระภิกษุ 2 รูปนี้ เพื่อเป็นฐานข้อมูลในการศึกษาพระพุทธศาสนาแก่ผู้สนใจ

The objective of this research is to present the development of human thought on religion through interpretation. Phrabrahmakunaporn (P.A. Payutto) interprets dhamma in a traditionally way by relying on Tripitaka, commentaries and sub-commentaries respectively. Phramettanando interprets with a different assumption: Tripitaka should not yet be fully relied on until it is examined according to the methodology approved by western academics. Hence, commentaries and sub-commentaries are excluded. The two interpretations are totally different. The latter interpretation has created quite a controversy among Thai Buddhists. In this article, the researcher will present the two bhikkus’ way of thought and methodology used in their dhamma interpretations.
