ภาษาไทย: ความจำเป็นต่อการเรียนรู้และการศึกษาทางศิลปศาสตร์

บทคัดย่อ

วิชาภาษาไทยเป็นวิชาหนึ่งในหลักสูตรวิชาพื้นฐานทั่วไปของมหาวิทยาลัยต่างๆ นับได้ว่าได้รับความสำคัญในระดับนโยบายการศึกษาของไทย แต่ในความเป็นจริงสาขาวิชาต่างๆ กลับเห็นว่าวิชาภาษาไทยมีความสำคัญน้อย บทความนี้มุ่งรื้อฟื้นความสำคัญของวิชาภาษาไทยในฐานะของพื้นฐานการเรียนรู้และการศึกษาทางศิลปศาสตร์และชี้ให้เห็นปัญหา รวมถึงเสนอข้อเสนอแนะในการจัดการเรียนการสอนวิชาภาษาไทยพื้นฐาน ทั้งในด้านเนื้อหาวิชา ผู้เรียนผู้สอน วิธีการเรียนการสอน และนโยบายการบริหาร

Thai language as a course of general education seems to be important to Thai undergraduate education policy. However, in practice, it is often discarded because it is deemed as not useful in an undergraduate curriculum. This article proposes to explore the status of Thai language as a part of liberal arts education, to resurrect the significance of Thai language as  the basis of learning and studying, and also to give some suggestions on the problems of learning and studying the Thai language.
