รายงานการวิจัยเรื่องการวัดความสามารถในการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษของบัณฑิตวิชาเอกภาษาอังกฤษ

บทคัดย่อ

การศึกษาครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวัดระดับความสามารถในการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษของบัณฑิตวิชาเอกภาษาอังกฤษ คณะศิลปศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และผลการวัดสามารถนำมาวิเคราะห์เกี่ยวกับความสามารถในการเขียนงานทางธุรกิจ (Business Writing) และงานทางการศึกษา (Academic Writing) ตลอดจนข้อดีและข้อบกพร่องในการเขียนทั้งสองประเภท

กลุ่มตัวอย่างได้แก่ นักศึกษาวิชาเอกภาษาอังกฤษ รุ่นปีการศึกษา 2538 ซึ่งกำลังศึกษาอยู่ในภาคสุดท้ายของปีที่ 4 จำนวน 35 คน ซึ่งเข้าสอบตามความสมัครใจ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ แบบสอบถามเขียน เกณฑ์การประเมิน และการอบรมผู้ตรวจ

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า นักศึกษามีความสามารถในการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับดี (ร้อยละ 71.68) นักศึกษาสามารถเขียนงานทางธุรกิจได้ดีวก่างานทางวิชาการ ในการเขียนงานทางธุรกิจ องค์ประกอบการเขียนที่นักศึกษาสามารถทำได้ดีคือ ด้านรูปแบบ (Form) และด้านเนื้อหา (Ideas and Content) ด้านที่ค่อนข้างอ่อนคือ ด้านการใช้ภาษา (Language) ส่วนการเขียนงานทางวิชาการ องค์ประกอบการเขียนที่นักศึกษาสามารถทำได้ดีคือ ด้านการใช้ภาษา (Language) และด้านที่อ่อนคือ ด้านเนื้อหา (Ideas and Content)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the writing ability of the graduates majoring in English of the Liberal Arts Faculty, Thammasat University. Their test scores can be analyzed to compare their skills in business and academic writings. Their strong points and weak points in these two tupes of writing are studied.

The subjects are 35 English majors, class of 1995, who were in their last semester when taking the test. The research instruments are the test, the grading criteria, and the rater training procedure.

The results demonstrate that the English majors' writing ability is satisfactory (71.68 percent). The subjects can write business correspondence better than they can write the kind of exposition and argumentation required in academic writing. In business correspondence, the subject scored highest in Form and Ideas and Content, and lowest in Language. In academic writing, they scored highest in Language, and lowest in Ideas and Content.
