"ชู้" และบทลงโทษทางสังคมในวรรณคดีเยอรมันสมัยสัจนิยมของกวีผ่านมุมมองและแนวคิด ของเทโอดอร์ ฟอนทาเน่

บทคัดย่อ

เมื่อได้ศึกษาเชิงวิเคราะห์วิจารณ์ผลงานสำคัญทั้งสองเรื่องที่คัดสรรมาแล้วคือ อาดุลเทรา และ เอฟฟี่ บรีสท์ ซึ่งทั้งสองเรื่องได้เล่าถึงผู้หญิงที่ทำผิดประเวณี และแต่ละคนได้รับผลกรรมจากการกระทำที่แตกต่างกันไป คนหนึ่งแม้จะถูกสังคมขับไล่ให้กลายเป็นคนชายขอบ แต่ท้ายที่สุดก็สามารถค้นพบที่ยืนใหม่ในสังคมในฐานะ "ผู้หญิงยุคใหม่" ช่วยสามีจุนเจือครอบครัว แค่ในขณะที่อีกคนต้องใช้ชีวิตอย่างเดียวดายและตายไปอย่างสงบในที่สุด ผู้อ่านจะสังเกตได้ว่า ฟอนทาเน่ ซึ่งเป็นนักเขียนในยุคสัจนิยมของกวี มิได้มีจุดประสงค์ที่จะวิจารณ์สังคมโดยตรงเพื่อให้เกิดการปฏิวัติหรือปฏิรูปแนวคิดหรือค่านิยมในสังคม เพียงแต่ต้องการ "สะท้อน" ภาพความเป็นไปที่แท้จริงที่เกิดขึ้นในสังคมให้ผู้อ่านได้สัมผัส การตั้งคำถามต่อค่านิยมที่นักเขียนผู้นี้นำเสนอ อันจะนำไปสู่การปฏิวัติแนวคิดทางศิลธรรม จรรยา หรือเจตคติใดๆ ก็แล้วแต่ หรือแม้แต่การทำใจให้ยอมศิโรราบต่อสิ่งเหล่านี้ สุดท้ายก็เป็นหน้าที่ของผู้อ่านผลงานที่จะเลือกเอง

Two literary works, L'Adultera and Effi Briest, by the German authors. Theodore Fontane, are studied analytically and critically. Both focus on women who have adulterous affairs, and these affairs bring them to different endings. One is expelled from society but is finally given a chance to return to society as a 'modern woman' by helping her husband to support her improverished family. Another is forced to retreat from society. She copes with tragic events and eventually dies calmly. Readers may realize that Fontane, who is regarded as an outstanding realist author, does not intend to criticize society directly in a way which might as a result motivate revolution ot reformation of society directly in a way which might as a result motivate revolution or reformation of social concepts or norms. But he intentionally presents realistic social images to his readers. The impeachment of norms and morals delineated in both novels can induce either reformation of morals and attitudes, or capitulation to them. In the end readers have to make those decisions themselves.
