THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH READING AND WRITING SKILLS BY USING CARTOON LESSONS FOCUSED ON PHONICS TEACHING METHOD FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS, CHIANG MAI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Objectives of this research were: 1. To create and find out the effectiveness of cartoon lessons focused on phonics teaching methods for Kindergarten students, Chiang Mai International School 2. To develop English reading skill by using cartoon lessons focused on phonics teaching methods, Kindergarten students, Chiang Mai International School 3. To develop English writing skill by using cartoon lessons focused on phonics teaching methods, Kindergarten students, Chiang Mai International School. This study was the research and development of educational innovation. The sample group was obtained by cluster sampling: Kindergarten students, Chiang Mai International School for the 1st semester, Academic Year 2022, 1 classroom for 14 students. The research instruments consisted of 1. cartoon lessons focused on phonics teaching methods for 3 sets 2. English Reading Skill Test 3. English Writing Skill Test. The statistics used to analyze data were percentages, arithmetic means, standard deviation, and Z-test statistics.
The results showed that 1. 3 sets of cartoon lessons focused on phonics teaching methods were suitable at the highest level. The efficiency E 1 /E 2 was 94.22/91.59, higher than the criterion of 80/80. 2. Students had English reading skill at a good level, higher than the criterion of 80% at the statistically significant level of 0.05 in all sets. 3. Students had English writing skill at a good level, higher than the criterion of 80% at the statistically significant level of 0.05 in all sets.
