PROBLEMS OF PALI LANGUAGE STUDY OF THAI SANGHA AT PRESENT

Abstract

Objective of this article was to study the problems of studying the Pali language of Thai Sanghas at present. The results of the study were found that nowadays was the age which people need to struggle more to sustain life because 1) the overall world population and Thailand were increasing, 2) materialism current getting strong. From these two reasons, curriculum improvements to encourage more people to learn Pali. The focus should be on all Buddhist youths who were of school age, starting from the junior high school to the higher education, including novices of PhraPariyattidhamma schools by motivating. For example, after graduating from high school, letting them take a Pali language course. The special quota was to grant them to study in the famous institutions in Thailand by specifying passing the Pali level examination as the school organized for general schools, whereas the novices of PhraPariyattidhamma schools passed the exams for Pali. 1-2, given the right to study in both monastic universities for free at the bachelor’s degree level, free at the master degree level if they passed Pali 3, and free at the Ph.D. level if they passed Pali. 6-9. If there was a course improvement, target audience determination, and the benefits that would be obtained clearly would create the Pali studies more interesting.
