THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF READING COMPREHENSION OF PRATHOMSUKSA 6 STUDENTS USING DR-TA (DIRECTED READING- THINKING ACTIVITY)

The purposes of this research were to : 1) compare reading comprehension achievement of Prathomsuksa 6 students before and after being taught by using DR-TA method. 2) study the students' opinions towards the DR-TA method. The sample of this research were 30 Prathomsuksa 6/4 students of Nakprasith School, Amphoe Sam Phran, NakhonPathom province. The research was conducted within the duration of the second semester of the academic year 2015 and covering the period of 10 hours. The instruments used for this experiment were lesson plans, achievement and a questionnaire used to study the students' opinions toward using DT-TA method. The data were analyzed by mean ( ) standard deviation (S.D.), and dependent samples t-test.
The findings were as follows
1) The achievement of reading comprehension of Prathomsuksa 6 students after using DR-TA method were significantly higher than before using DR-TA method at the 0.01 level.
2) The students' opinions toward DR-TA method were at high level.
